In this section you can check the status of your DNI or passport application quickly and easily, at any time.
DNIs and passports processed at the Consulate General of the Argentine Republic in New York are printed by RENAPER in Argentina and handed over in person at the Consulate General. Processing usually takes more than 45 calendar days and does not depend on the Consulate General.
To find out whether your DNI or passport is ready for pickup, enter the application ID (ID de trámite) shown on your receipt.
DNI AND/OR PASSPORT PICKUP
If your DNI and/or passport is at the Consulate General, you can pick it up Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
To pick up your document, you must bring the following, without exception:
- Application receipt.
- For a DNI: your previous DNI or passport.
- For a passport: your previous passport, unless it was lost.
- If a third party picks it up: a notarized authorization, or one the applicant signed beforehand at the Consulate. The authorized person must show valid identification.
- Minors: also a birth certificate or family record book (libreta de familia), plus the DNI or passport of one of the parents.
IMPORTANT:
The document, whether a DNI or a passport, must be picked up in person by its holder or, for minors, by those with parental responsibility. If for any reason you cannot do so, you must say so when you apply. At that time, the alternatives will be explained to you and, if applicable, you will sign the required authorizations. If you learn after applying that you cannot come in person, or you already expect this before applying, please let us know by email at cnyor-tramites@mrecic.gov.ar. Under no circumstances will documents be released to third parties without proper authorization.
Documents will be kept at the Consulate for one (1) year from the date they arrive. For security reasons, after that period the documents will be cancelled and sent to the relevant offices (Executive Decree No. 1144/04).
