Certificate and "Visto" of commercial documents

INTERVENTION OF COMMERCIAL DOCUMENTS

The consulate certifies:

  • Certificates of Origin from the USA
  • Affidavits on Certificates of Origin from other countries
  • Certificates of Free Sale
  • Certificates of Reconditioning/Repair
  • Certificates of Formula/Ingredient
  • Certificate of End-Use

The consulate applies "Visto Consular":

  • Invoices, price lists, and other commercial documents.

General Information

Jurisdiction

The Consulate of Argentina in New York can only authenticate chamber of commerce certificates from the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Chamber Signature Registration

Chamber representatives signing documents should be previously registered in our records. In order to be registered, the chamber must provide a note with chamber's letterhead stating date, full name, position and signature sample. Fees and Processing Time

The fee for the Certifications and "Vistos" of any commercial document is $200 per document.

Regular processing can take up to 3 business days from the moment we receive the document until it is completed and ready for pick up. If you need the document to be processed in 1 business day please select Rush Processing in the Form with an extra costs of $40. If authenticating the signature of more than one document or requesting rushed processing add the fee amounts and send Only 1(one) money order for the total amount. No Cash or checks accepted.

*Processing time is longer for documents referring to certain products such as hazardous materials, chemicals, explosives, etc. We may contact you if one of your documents will take extra processing time or if we need additional information.

Documents may be delivered and picked up personally, by courier, or by mail to the Consulate of Argentina in New York at 12 West 56th Street, NY, New York, 10019. All documents sent via mail should be addressed to the Commercial Office - Consulate of Argentina.
 

LEGALIZATION OF CERTIFICATES OF ORIGIN FROM USA, FREE SALE, RECONDITIONING, FORMULA, AND END OF USE

The origin of the merchandise has to be from the US.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Submit the document bearing name of the representative, signature, and raised or stamped seal of a registered chamber of commerce (no photocopies or faxed copies will be accepted as originals).
  2. Submit 1 (one) copy of the document
  3. Fill out and submit the following FORM
  4. Money order payable to the “Consulate General of Argentina in New York”. If authenticating the signature of more than one document or requesting rushed processing add the fee amounts and send only 1 (one) Money Order for the total amount. No checks or cash.
  5. *Only if sending documents via mail: Submit a pre-paid envelope with your return address or printed label slit with the code bar and confirmation receipt ready to be mailed.

Incompletion of any of these requirements will cause the rejection of the documents

LEGALIZATION OF AFFIDAVITS ON CERTIFICATES OF ORIGIN FROM OTHER COUNTRIES (NOT FROM THE US)

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Submit a copy of the original certificate of origin, which has to be issued and chamberized in origin (China, Vietnam, etc.) no further than 1 (one) year prior to being submitted.
  2. Each copy of the Certificate of Origin must have an affidavit in the back which must include:
    • Title: AFFIDAVIT.
    • The number of the Certificate of Origin
    • Importer in Argentina
    • Number, date and description of the merchandize related to both Commercial Invoices (import and export)

• The Affidavit has to be signed by a representative from the company, notarized by Notary Public with the statement “Signed before me on….” and certified by County Clerk or Chamber of Commerce.

Please be aware that the quantity of merchandise to be re-exported to Argentina should not exceed the number of merchandise stated in the original Certificate of Origin.

  3. Money Order payable to the "Consulate General of Argentina in New York". If authenticating the signature of more than one document or requesting rushed processing add the fee amount and send only 1(one)money order for the total amount. No checks or cash.
  4. *Only if sending documents via mail: Submit a pre-paid envelope with your return address and with the code bar and confirmation receipt ready to be mailed.

Incompletion of any of these requirements will cause the rejection of the documents

“VISTO” OF INVOICES, OR OTHER COMMERCIAL DOCUMENTS

Commercial Invoices, letters of representation and other commercial documents may require the intervention of the Consulate. This intervention is called "Visto Consular" and it consists of a signature and stamp by the Consulate confirming ONLY that the document has been submitted to the Consulate.

The “Visto Consular” is not a certification and does not replace The Hague “Apostille”. The “Visto consular” does not attest to the authenticity or content of the document.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Submit the document, which has be signed by a representative from the company, and notarized by a Notary Public with the statement “Signed before me on…(date).”
