The call for applications for the Programa SUR is now open. This initiative promotes the translation of works by Argentine authors with the aim of expanding the presence of Argentine literature in other languages and international publishing markets.
Since its creation, the Program has supported the translation of more than 1,652 works into 50 languages, establishing itself as a key instrument of Argentina’s international cultural outreach.
The call is addressed to foreign publishers interested in publishing works by Argentine authors that have been previously published in Spanish. The grant covers translation costs of up to USD 3,200 per work. Applications may be submitted until August 21, 2026, and selected works must be published before November 30, 2027.
Among the main requirements, the work must be written in Spanish by an Argentine author, must have been previously published, and the publisher must commit to publication within the established timeframe. This year, special consideration will be given to works in the Social and Human Sciences (essays, literary criticism, philosophy, sociology of culture), poetry, graphic novels, chronicles, and playwriting.
