Argentina Showcases Its Innovation, Talent, and Pro-Business Vision in New York

The Consulate General and Promotion Center of Argentina in New York hosted “Why Argentina? Innovation, Talent & Opportunity,” a high-level panel discussion highlighting Argentina’s consolidated position as a global hub for knowledge-based services, creativity, and technology-driven business.

The event brought together industry leaders, business executives, and government representatives to discuss how Argentina’s innovation ecosystem, human capital, and pro-market reforms are reinforcing the country’s role as a trusted partner for international investment and global operations.

The panel discussion featured Verónica Asla (EY), Néstor Nocetti (Globant), and Sofía Vago (Accenture), with Sebastián Mocorrea, President of Argencon, delivering the keynote presentation and as moderator. The panelists shared perspectives from leading global firms on Argentina’s innovation capacity, global competitiveness, and the export potential of its knowledge-based services sector — reaffirming the country’s position as a regional leader in technology, creativity, and talent.

Panelists emphasized Argentina’s competitive advantages in the knowledge economy: a highly educated, multilingual workforce, world-class universities driving creativity and innovation, robust experience in technology and digital services, a culture of resilience and adaptability, and a strategic time zone that facilitates collaboration with North America and Europe. These attributes position Argentina as a trusted partner for global tech operations and knowledge-based services.

A video produced by Argencon and presented during the event highlighted Argentina’s recent government reforms designed to streamline trade, foster innovation, and attract new capital — part of a broader strategy to promote the country’s growing knowledge economy. It also showcased success stories from leading Argentine and multinational companies — such as Globant, Accenture, and EY — which have expanded their service centers in the country, delivering world-class solutions in AI, digital transformation, software development, and advanced technology.

Earlier in the program, Consul General Gerardo “Gerry” Díaz Bartolomé welcomed participants, emphasizing Argentina’s distinctive combination of talent, creativity, and openness to the world. He noted that the country’s innovation capacity, together with a renewed pro-business and investment-oriented framework, continues to strengthen its position as a hub for technology and services with global reach.

He was joined by Tomás Villalba, Chief of Staff at the Secretariat for International Economic Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Santiago Pordelanne, Undersecretary for the Knowledge Economy at the Ministry of Economy; and Carolina Bustos, Director of Export Promotion for Knowledge-Based Services at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Together, they outlined Argentina’s current economic landscape and the government’s ongoing policies to strengthen competitiveness, attract investment, and promote the knowledge economy — a key pillar of the Argentine government's international economic strategy.

Participants from both the public and private sectors underscored Argentina’s strong performance in the Knowledge Economy, which in 2024 exported more than USD 9.7 billion in services — growing over 20% year-on-year and generating thousands of quality jobs. Representatives from PwC, INVAP, Baufest, and other Argencon members also attended, underscoring Argentina’s reputation as a strategic and reliable partner for technology, investment, and business solutions.

The evening concluded with a networking reception, bringing together professionals from leading corporations, investment firms, startups, and academic institutions, and fostering dialogue and new opportunities for collaboration.

The event reaffirmed Argentina’s commitment to innovation, openness to global investment, and a pro-market vision focused on sustainable and inclusive growth — strengthening its position as a leading destination for business, creativity, and technological excellence.
