How to apply

Visa documents will have to be submitted in person on the date of the interview. The Visa Department will conduct interviews, requested by appointment, on Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 10.00AM to 12.00 PM.  The Consulate will be closed on Argentine and US holidays.

Visa inquiries and appointments MUST be requested and scheduled ONLY through the following email address:  cnyor-visas@mrecic.gov.ar

The Consulate strongly encourages applicants to apply at least 45 days in advance of their proposed journey and to refrain from making irrevocable travel plans until the visa has been issued.

 

STUDENT VISA - DISPOSITION DNM 2040/2019

STUDENTS FROM MERCOSUR MEMBER COUNTRIES AND THEIR ASSOCIATED STATES:

Up to 90 days: They will enter Argentina without a visa and will remain as "tourists" More than 90 days:  a student visa may be granted, with a time of permanence of TWO (2) years. Requirements:

- Visa application form, filled out (preferably in electronic format) and signed by the applicant.

- One (1) current 2 x 2 inches photograph, printed in color, facing the camera, on a white or blue background,.

- In the case of travelers aged 16 or older, travelling for a period exceeding 6 (six) months, an apostilled or legalized certificate of good conduct issued by the competent authority of the country where resided for more than 1 (one) year during the past 3 (three) years. In the United States they can be requested from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)

- Educational institution must upload student’s data at the National Directorate of Migration - Educational institution’s registration number in the RENURE

- Only for internships and fellowships: certified letter from the inviting organization and proof of the agreements that regulate the internship or scholarship.

- Program of studies

- In the case of travelers aged 16 or older travelling for a period of time exceeding 6 (six) months, commitment to tell the truth or sworn affidavit of their lack of a criminal record in other countries, signed before the consul.

- If the student is a minor, authorization by both parents in order to apply for the visa and appointment of a guardian/tutor in Argentina

 - Proof of sufficient funds to cover stay and study expenses

- Payment of the Consular fee by DEBIT card.

B) STUDENTS FROM NON-MEMBER COUNTRIES. 

STUDENTS FROM THE UNITED STATES OR VISA-WAIVER COUNTRIES (up to 90 days)

They will enter without a visa and remain as "tourists" when they take non-formal studies whose duration does not exceed the term of 90 days.

 COUNTRIES THAT REQUIRE A TOURIST VISA TO ENTER ARGENTINA (up to 90 days)

For non-formal studies, partial studies, cultural exchanges, student exchanges, internships and fellowships, in addition to the usual documentation that supports tourist visa requests, one of the following two alternatives will be required:

a) Educational institution must upload student’s data at the National Directorate of Migration (DNM)and inform the registration number assigned by the National Registry of Petitioners on behalf of Foreign Applicants of Argentina (RENURE), or

b) letter of invitation from a natural or legal person duly registered in the RENURE, with the usual certifications and legalizations (notary and Notary Public Association).

TRANSIENT STUDENTS (up to 365 days)

Requirements:

- FSV Visa application form, filled out (preferably in electronic format) and signed by the applicant. 

- One (1) current 1 ½ x 1 ½ inches photograph, printed in color, facing the camera, on a white or blue background.

- Sworn affidavit 

- In the case of travelers aged 16 or older, travelling for a period exceeding 6 (six) months, an apostilled or legalized certificate of good conduct issued by the competent authority of the country where resided for more than 1 (one) year during the past 3 (three) years . In the United States they can be requested from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)

- Educational institution must upload student’s data at the National Directorate of Migration - Educational institution’s registration number in the RENURE

- Only for internships and fellowships: certified letter from the inviting  organization and proof of the agreements that regulate the internship or scholarship.

- Program of studies

4- "TEMPORARY" STUDENTS ("formal" studies up to 365 days)

Requirements:

- Visa application form, filled out (preferably in electronic format) and signed by the applicant.

- One (1) current 1 ½ x 1 ½ inches photograph, printed in color, facing the camera, on a white or blue background.

- In the case of travelers aged 16 or older, travelling for a period exceeding 6 (six) months, an apostilled or legalized certificate of good conduct issued by the competent authority of the country where resided for more than 1 (one) year during the past 3 (three) years . In the United States they can be requested from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)

- Educational institution must upload student’s data at the National Directorate of Migration - Educational institution’s registration number in the RENURE

- Program of studies

- If there is no prior Entry Permit issued by DNM: proof of payment of the DNM fee.

- In the case of travelers aged 16 or older travelling for a period of time exceeding 6 (six) months, commitment to tell the truth or sworn affidavit of their lack of a criminal record in other countries, signed before the consul.

- If the student is a minor, authorization by both parents in order to apply for the visa and appointment of a guardian/tutor in Argentina

– Proof of sufficient funds to cover stay and study expenses.

- Payment of the Consular fee by DEBIT card.

The regular visa process takes 7-10 working days.  In some cases, it will requiere 30-45 days; you will be advised in these cases.

There is an expedited visa process that takes up to 3 working days and requires the payment of a U$S 40 paid by DEBIT card. You may qualify for an expedited visa service depending on availability. The expedited fee DOES NOT apply in the case of the visas that require a process time of 30-45 days.

All applicants should be aware that the times given are current averages and are subject to sharp seasonal fluctuations.

Visa Collection

Passports with the stamped visa can be picked up in person or using a prepaid, self-addressed return envelope. We ONLY accept FEDEX. It is mandatory to present proof of payment of the shipping. It will be the responsibility of the applicant to follow up on the mail delivery.

The Consulate shall not be responsible for delays or loss of documents incurred by the Post Office once the documentation was delivered or sent by the Consulate.

IMPORTANT: the educational institution must assist and advise the student regarding the documentation and procedures in order to obtain the corresponding visa. It is highly recommended to contact the educational entity before planning the trip.
