Malbec World Day, always a great occasion to promote Argentine wines

In partnership with Wines of Argentina and the presence of eight of Argentina’s top-notch wineries the Consulate General and Promotion Center of Argentina in New York hosted a successful guided tasting together with industry experts, special stakeholders, and local key partners from the US, Argentina’s first wine export market.

The exclusive tasting and enriching discussion was guided by Sommelier Charles to highlight the versatility and global appeal of Malbec, Argentina’s signature grape, while showcasing the evolution and innovation of Argentina's wine industry.

- Malbec is present in 18 of Argentina's 23 provinces;

- Out of 184,335 grown hectares, 47,064 correspond to Malbec;

- Malbec cultivation is the area with the greatest increase in surface area.

Select wines of the following wineries were presented during the tasting:

  • Bodega Familia Zuccardi
  • Trivento Bodegas y Viñedos S. A.
  • Bodega Luigi Bosca
  • Bodega Trapiche
  • FINCA EL ORIGEN
  • Escorihuela Gascón
  • Bodegas Puertas del Abra
  • Bodega Alpasión

As a perfect pairing of Malbec, local wine professionals and experts had also the chance to enjoy the virtues of Argentine seafood -red shrimp (langostinos) and sea bass (merluza negra)- thanks to the generosity of Pescanova USA who wished to stay present at the event to promote their products.

The United States is one of the three main destinations for Argentina's fish exports. In 2024, the U.S. market represented the third largest recipient country of our exports for 30,331 tons (10.3% in value share), according to a report by the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Ministry of Economy of the Nation.
