As part of the Argentine Navy’s tall ship ARA Libertad's visit to New York for the Sail4th 250 celebrations, the Consulate General and Promotion Center of the Argentine Republic in New York opened "Testimonios de a bordo" (Life Onboard), a photography exhibition by renowned Argentine photographer Guillermo Hariyo.
Through a carefully curated selection of photographs, the exhibition offers an intimate and authentic look at daily life aboard Argentina's iconic naval training ship, highlighting the training, camaraderie, and spirit of service that have defined generations of sailors who have served aboard the ARA Libertad.
During the opening, Consul General Gerardo (Gerry) Díaz Bartolomé underscored the profound symbolism of the ARA Libertad as one of Argentina's foremost national symbols abroad and thanked Guillermo Hariyo for sharing a body of work that brings to life the human experience behind our "Ambassador of the Seas."
The opening brought together members of the Argentine community, authorities, special guests, and friends of the Consulate, who toured the exhibition and had the opportunity to meet and engage with the photographer.
The exhibition pays tribute to the ARA Libertad's historic visit to New York, which included her participation in the Sail4th 250 celebrations commemorating the 250º anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence, public open-ship days that welcomed thousands of visitors, and an official reception aboard.
Testimonios de a bordo will remain open to the public at the Consulate General through Friday, July 17, inviting visitors to discover, through Guillermo Hariyo's lens, the spirit and values of one of Argentina's most enduring ambassadors to the world.
