Emotional unveiling of "Escudo Nacional", an art work that is now part of the history of our house in New York

On May 21st, 2026, in the framework of “Semana de Mayo,” the Consulate General and Promotion Center of Argentina in New York unveiled "Escudo Nacional", a work by Argentine artist Paula Morando representing Argentina's national Coat of Arms that will now permanently preside over the auditorium of our building.

This deeply symbolic and visually striking work first inspired admiration during the exhibition “De América” in October 2025, and today becomes part of the identity and history of Argentina’s home in New York.

The unveiling took place during a special concert by talented Argentine pianist Axel Quincke and also marked the symbolic beginning of the commemorations leading to 80 years of Argentina’s presence in the historic 56th Street building in Manhattan.

For nearly eight decades, this building and its auditorium have served as a meeting place where culture, diplomacy, community, and friendship between Argentina and New York come together. The permanent incorporation of this work represents a new chapter in that shared history and in the evolving identity of this meaningful space for Argentines and friends of Argentina in the city.

A new chapter begins.
