As part of its cultural promotion agenda, and continuing the 2026 exhibition cycle inaugurated last January, the Consulate General and Promotion Center of Argentina in New York opened two new exhibitions on Wednesday, April 8, in the Gallery and Library of the Consulate.
The exhibitions, Pure Emotion by Rocky Cervini and Transitions of Form by María Emilia Cattaneo, bring together two contemporary artistic languages of remarkable conceptual and material richness, in a new edition of the joint-opening format promoted by the Consulate to foster dialogue among distinct Argentine visual poetics.
Both artists traveled especially from Argentina to participate in the opening and in a networking agenda with key figures from the local artistic ecosystem, further reinforcing the role of the Consulate General as an active platform for cultural diplomacy and the international projection of Argentina’s creative industries.
The opening gathered a large and carefully curated audience, including collectors, curators, gallerists, cultural managers, artists, institutional representatives, and prominent members of the Argentine and Latin American community in New York.
In Pure Emotion, Rocky Cervini proposes a deeply visceral journey through works that explore the most sensitive and transformative dimensions of human experience. Through paintings, drawings, and three-dimensional structures, the artist approaches the body as an emotional territory, addressing psychological states, complex relationships, and fragmented memories. Her organic, undulating, and intertwined forms oscillate between humor and tragedy, transforming vulnerability and trauma into a visual poetics that is as intense as it is hypnotic.
Meanwhile, Transitions of Form, by María Emilia Cattaneo, invites viewers into a perceptual experience in constant motion. Her artistic research, linked to the traditions of kinetic and optical art, explores the relationship between form, color, light, and reflection through the use of mirrored steel, acrylic, and folded planes. The works transform space and challenge the gaze, generating visual shifts that make perception itself an essential part of the aesthetic experience.
The dialogue between both proposals reflects the richness and diversity of contemporary Argentine art today, ranging from the emotional intensity of the body and subjectivity to the rigorous exploration of form, color, and space.
Both exhibitions will remain open to the public through May, Monday through Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Consulate General and Promotion Center of the Argentine Republic in New York.
Through initiatives of this kind, the Consulate General continues to deepen its role as a platform for the international projection of Argentine contemporary art, promoting new opportunities for visibility, circulation, and strategic engagement for our creators within New York’s cultural ecosystem.
