Next Stop New York!
This year 2024, the Paris-based group of artists “El Colectivo”, celebrates twenty years of existence, becoming the first Argentinian artistic collective in Paris to endure for so long.
To mark this significant milestone, we present the exhibition “Febril la mirada” at our Consulate in New York, city where some of the artists are living now. The title draws inspiration from a line in the renowned tango “Volver”.
The “colectivo” is a bus, the most popular mode of transportation in Argentina, running day and night. Adorned with baroque friezes and vibrant arabesques, its exterior captivates the eye. Drivers embellish their cabins with dazzling, playful, or sentimental phrases. As the “colectivo” puffs smoke at the curb level, it races along rugged paths toward destinations whose names spark the imagination: Tigre, Mataderos, Wilde, La Boca, Flores, Palermo, Paternal… These journeys, with their ceaseless jolts, mirror the soul of Argentina.
