Accompanied by Argentine citizens, Consuls General, authorities and friends of Argentina, we celebrated the 215th Anniversary of the May Revolution of May 25th, 1810 at the Monument to General José de San Martín in New York's Central Park.
Also present were representatives of the Permanent Mission of the Argentine Republic to the United Nations and of the Armed and Security Forces of the Nation. During the ceremony, a floral wreath was presented to honor the memory of Liberator San Martín, after singing the Argentine National Anthem and the Anthem of our host country, the United States of America. In his remarks, Consul General, Ambassador Gerardo Díaz Bartolomé, recalled the “Argentine May” and its principles of freedom and sovereignty, inviting those present to follow the legacy of our founding Fathers, to keep alive the pride of our roots and traditions, as well as a renewed hope for the future of our great country.
A special recognition to the flag bearers of the Argentine School in New York for joining our commemoration and to all the students who sent their drawings to decorate the building of our Consulate on the occasion of Argentina's National Day.
Likewise, a special mention to our great artists Morena Galán (singer); Guillermina Quiroga and Mariano Logiudice (tango dancers); Corazón Legüero with the Ballet Río de la Plata (Milán Gallego, Fabián Arias, Mónica Carabajal, Pamela Suárez, Eugenio Gallegos and Alexander Gallego), who accompanied us and made our guests enjoy, get to know and even dare to dance our folklore. Our gratitude also to Cervecería Quilmes for adding Argentine beer with the colors of our flag to our event!
