On the eve of Argentina's Independence Day, the Consulate General and Promotion Center of the Argentine Republic in New York joined the Argentine community in Boston for a ceremony launching the Independence Day commemorations.
The event opened with the Argentine National Anthem, followed by the raising of the Argentine flag in front of Boston City Hall. Local authorities then presented an official Proclamation honoring Argentina's Independence Day, reaffirming the longstanding ties of friendship between Boston and Argentina.
In his remarks, Consul General Gerardo (Gerry) Díaz Bartolomé noted that July 9 is an opportunity to renew Argentina's commitment to the values of freedom, unity, and responsibility that shaped the nation and continue to guide its future. He emphasized the vital role of the Argentine community as a bridge between both countries and thanked generations of Argentines for their contributions to the economic, academic, scientific, business, and cultural life of Boston and New England.
The Consul General also highlighted the upcoming visit of the ARA Libertad to Boston, noting that Argentina's iconic "Ambassador of the Seas" symbolizes the friendship between Argentina and the United States, as well as the shared values of freedom, cooperation, and peace.
The Consulate General extends its sincere appreciation to the City of Boston for its warm welcome and commemorative Proclamation, and to Jessika Jahnsen and the entire Argentinos en Boston team for organizing a celebration that brought the community together to honor Argentina's traditions, culture, and heritage.
