ARA Libertad visits New York as part of the United States' 250th Independence Anniversary Celebrations

The ARA Libertad, Argentina's iconic tall ship and "Ambassador of the Seas," is visiting New York as part of the Sail4th 250 celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the Independence of the United States.

The visit began with the ship's participation in the historic Parade of Ships, after which the ARA Libertad moored in Manhattan. Upon arrival, Commanding Officer Captain Jorge Gabriel Cáceres and the ship's crew were welcomed by Argentina's Consul General in New York, Gerardo (Gerry) Díaz Bartolomé, and Argentina's Naval Attaché to the United States, Rear Admiral Raúl Osvaldo Chiñi.

Throughout her stay, the ARA Libertad carried out an extensive program of official and institutional activities, proudly representing Argentina during one of the most significant commemorations in the history of the United States.

The visit also included an official reception aboard the ARA Libertad, hosted by Argentina's Ambassador to the United States, Alejandro Oxenford, and the ship's Commanding Officer, Captain Jorge Gabriel Cáceres. The reception brought together national, civilian, and military authorities, members of the diplomatic and consular corps, and distinguished guests. It provided an opportunity to celebrate the enduring bonds of friendship and cooperation between Argentina and the United States, within the framework of the commemorations marking the 250th anniversary of the United States' Independence and the participation of Argentina's iconic tall ship in Sail4th 250.

The ship was also open to the public for four days, welcoming thousands of visitors aboard. A special guided tour for members of the Argentine community, organized jointly by the ARA Libertad and the Consulate General, provided a unique opportunity to meet the crew and experience firsthand one of Argentina's most cherished national symbols.

The ARA Libertad's presence in New York highlighted the enduring friendship between Argentina and the United States and reaffirmed the shared values of freedom, cooperation, and mutual respect that continue to strengthen the relationship between both countries.

Following her stay in New York, the ARA Libertad will continue her training voyage on July 8 to Boston, the final U.S. port of call on this leg of her journey, where she will also participate in commemorative activities marking the 250th anniversary of the Independence of the United States.
