Contemporary Argentine Art Opens the 2026 Exhibition Season

The Consulate General and Promotion Center of Argentina in New York inaugurated its 2026 exhibition season on January 22 with the opening of two contemporary art solo exhibitions: Vinyl Geometries by Bruno Rodríguez Maraude and Internal Maps by Marcela Hoffer.

Presented across the Consulate’s two gallery spaces, the joint opening brought together artists, curators, and members of the cultural community for an evening celebrating the diversity and vitality of contemporary Argentine art. Shown together, the exhibitions establish a dialogue between two distinct yet complementary practices, connected by shared explorations of form, continuity, and transformation.

In Vinyl Geometries, Rodríguez Maraude draws on his architectural background to create rigorous geometric compositions using reclaimed materials. Through repetition, modulation, and circular structures, his work transforms everyday objects into autonomous aesthetic systems, reflecting on material memory, consumption, and renewal at the intersection of art, design, and architecture.

Internal Maps approaches circularity from an introspective and symbolic perspective. Drawing on Argentine provincial icons and personal memory, Hoffer deconstructs familiar references and reassembles them into new configurations that evoke balance, wholeness, and inner movement. Born and raised in Buenos Aires and based in New York, her practice reflects an ongoing dialogue between origin and displacement, inviting reflection and contemplation.

Together, the exhibitions highlight two complementary realities of Argentine art today: artistic production rooted in Argentina and creative practices developed abroad in constant dialogue with global cultural centers. The pairing underscores the strength and diversity of Argentina’s creative ecosystem, both at home and within its diaspora.

Through initiatives such as this joint exhibition, the Consulate General and Promotion Center of Argentina in New York reaffirms its commitment to cultural diplomacy as a space for dialogue, connection, and international engagement, promoting Argentine art and culture as key expressions of the country’s creative industries.
