INVEST IN ARGENTINA

Strategic Opportunities in a New Global Context

Argentina is positioning itself as a strategic player in the global economy, combining abundant natural resources, highly qualified human capital, and a consolidated industrial and technological base.

In an international scenario marked by the redefinition of global value chains, the country offers key advantages to contribute to the challenges of food and energy security, while fostering sustainable economic growth based on productive investment and the creation of quality jobs.

Why Invest in Argentina?

  • More than 53% of the territory is arable land, with leadership in agro-industrial and food exports.

  • Strategic resources in energy, mining, and hydrocarbons, with high growth potential.

  • diversified industrial base in high-complexity sectors, including machinery, automotive, biotechnology, medical equipment, and knowledge-based services.

  • Highly qualified human resources, with more than 110,000 university graduates per year and regional leadership in English proficiency.

  • Federal logistics infrastructure, with ports and productive hubs throughout the country.

Economic Framework and Incentive Regime

From the first days of the current administration, the Government of President Javier Milei set a course aimed at creating favorable conditions for attracting and facilitating investment, with the objective of energizing Argentina’s economic growth. This decision was materialized early on through Decree No. 70/2023, which established a framework designed to:

  • eliminate barriers and restrictions to trade;

  • reduce the burden and weight of regulations;

  • create conditions that ensure business profitability.

The Government’s economic program is based on a pro-market agenda, aimed at consolidating a stable and competitive macroeconomic environment. Its main results and objectives include:

  • stabilization of the foreign exchange market;

  • sustained reduction of inflation;

  • strengthening of legal certainty for investors;

  • creation of a climate favorable to private initiative;

  • promotion of clear, transparent, and predictable rules for those who choose to invest in Argentina.

Incentive Regime for Large Investments

This course was reaffirmed and expanded with a particular emphasis on stimulating investment in dynamic and strategic sectors of the national economy, through the creation of the Incentive Regime for Large Investments (RIGI), approved by Congress under Law No. 27,742 (July 2024) and regulated by Decree No. 749 (August 2024).

The RIGI, in force until July 2026 and extended for an additional year until July 8, 2027 by Decree 105/2026 published on February 19, 2026, is aimed at projects involving investments exceeding USD 200 million, and seeks to:

  • provide predictability, stability, and legal certainty for large-scale projects;

  • foster the development of local production chains;

  • grant special protection against potential breaches by the State;

  • promote long-term investments with an impact on growth and employment.

  • In upstream, onshore oil and gas projects seeking inclusion must involve outlay of at least US$600mn in computable assets, according to said Decree.

Argentina's Ministry of Economy has launched an official website dedicated to RIGI projects. The platform brings together all RIGI-related information in one place, with official data on approved and pending projects, committed investment, and projected employment generation. The new tool provides greater transparency and visibility into the pipeline of strategic investments that are helping drive Argentina’s economic development and export capacity.

New Medium-Sized Investment Incentive Regime

On the other hand, as part of its efforts to promote investment and strengthen business competitiveness, Argentina has also introduced the Medium-Sized Investment Incentive Regime (RIMI). Established under Law No. 27,802 and regulated by Decree No. 242/2026, RIMI provides a two-year incentive framework for qualifying SMEs undertaking productive investments.

The regime offers significant tax benefits, including accelerated depreciation and early VAT credit refunds, while supporting investment in productive assets, infrastructure, energy efficiency, and eligible agricultural and livestock projects.

New Legislation for Foreign Companies

The Argentine government's General Inspectorate of Justice (IGJ) has issued General Resolution No. 4/2026significantly simplifying the registration requirements for companies incorporated abroad. The new regulation consolidates into a single framework the rules applicable to foreign companies under Sections 118 and 123 of Argentina’s General Companies Law, permits the use of digital documentation issued overseas, and repeals 30 provisions that generated costs and delays without providing meaningful regulatory oversight.

The reform follows a public consultation launched by the IGJ and reflects a broader shift toward reducing bureaucracy, eliminating formal requirements that added little regulatory value, and simplifying the documentation foreign companies must submit to invest in Argentina.
