The Consulate General of Argentina in New York presents Alejandro Btittes Quartet - In the International Chamame day

The chamamé – just like the tango – was declared Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

Alejandro Brittes, accordionist, composer, researcher and interpreter of music of the Argentine Littoral region, has been declared one of the most relevant contemporary innovators and ambassadors of chamamé. He was awarded the Best Musician award at the prestigious Cosquín festival in 1996 in Argentina with an original work.

Brittes focuses on exploring, evoking and innovating the ancestral legacy of the chamamé, which has survived great challenges throughout history, and which flourishes today. Performing a historical repertoire created in Missions, he performs chamamé classics and original material with his Quartet.
