On 4 March the Gallery Room of the Consulate General held the opening of the exhibit of Argentine artists Julio Alan LEPEZ y Martín PALOTTINI.
Lepez presented seven works, mixed media from his recent body/work in different mediums, where the main character is the human figure. Colorful brushstrokes and excellent drawing skills give shape to Lepez’s characters.
Julio Alan Lepez lives and works in Buenos Aires. His work was widely exhibited in museums, cultural institutions and galleries, locally and internationally, such as: Identikit (Museo Municipal de Arte de La Plata), Straight from the Factory (Palais de Glace), Fixed Ideas (Centro Cultural de España), and Shows All (Centro Cultural Recoleta), among others.
Martín PALOTTINI presented eight works, mixed media, based on the human form and with an almost obsessive use of drawing, Palottini develops his own singular language in his work. He exposes diverse characters, mainly young beautiful women that tend to dissolve, disintegrate and disappear in their own mysterious, disturbing and heartbreaking stories.
Meanwhile, in the Library Hall of the Consulate General, the argentine artist Isabel PICASSO presented her series “Adoration", consists of 19 paintings, mixed media of various sizes.
Her works represents reclining figures, and only some have open eyes: almost all of them have their eyes closed, although they do not necessarily look as if they were sleeping. Their bodies are hidden under blankets, and, at first view, their function and sense is not clear.
At time, one could ask if they are real human beings, since some evoke the statues of some period. Furthermore, a dreamy atmosphere dominates the climate of each work as it does the figures.
