Within the calendar of cultural activities scheduled for 2014, on Thursday June 5 the Consulate General of Argentina held a photographic exhibition called "Makarius X 2 - Archival Art", curated by the son of renowned photographer Karim Makarius, and which features 18 photographs that reflect different moments and scenes of everyday life of Buenos Aires, the core of his photographic work.
Prior to the opening of the exhibition, Karim Makarius presented an open talk about his books "Sameer Makarius, artistic retrospective" and "Buenos Aires, my city". After the talk there was a questions-and-answers interactions between the artist and the audience.
At the same time, the Argentine artist Daniel Carranza presented the series of his 16 oil-on-canvas figurative paintings. In his work, Daniel Carranza fully reflects both the spirit and tendencies of his time and of his own imagination. In this context and even if many times conveys a message of criticism of the lack of awareness of the human being against degradation of the environment, his work generally conveys a sense of joy and even optimism, reflected in the ongoing game symbolism between reality, the testimonial message and his own worldview.
The opening was attended by more than one hundred people, including gallery owners and representatives of the press, local cultural institutions and professional environment.
